Why I like this chapter?
I like the way the author writes about how Ed tried to explain himself. I can sense the uneasiness in the way he talks and make me feel sorry for him to have to do so much to get his son to trust him. He did so much for him and Christopher in return, pushed his father when he tried to show his love. It is not only Christopher who has a hard time about the meter. His father is the one who feels worst even though he lied. Even though I feel sorry for Christopher as he had a hard time when he knows the truth, in this chapter, I feel sorry for the father more.
Ed is a father that cares about his son and that was why ne lied to Christopher about Judy Boone having hart problems and died of a hart attack. And that is also the reason he did not tell Christopher that he killed Wellington at first. But he told the truth in the end because he knows that it will hurt more if he said it later.
I like sad stories that make me feel sorry for a particular character.
Characters in the chapter
CHRISTOPHER
Christopher is an observant person and he is very careful about details because he listens to the noise outside very carefully to know what his father was doing and he writes them all down into the book.
Christopher is a boy that stands by his one believes. He thinks that his father will kill him as he had murdered a dog and he could not trust his father as he had said a lie.
Christopher is also a very cautious person as when he felt scared about his father when he knew that he killed Wellington, he decided not to stay in the house anymore and went to look for somewhere safer.
ED BOONE
Ed Boone is a very caring and understanding father. He makes sure Christopher is prepared before he did something to him. He also helped Christopher cleans the vomit off him. When Christopher pushed him of the bed, he walked away because he knows that Christopher needs to be alone for some time.
Ed Boone is a patient father. He did not get angry when he Christopher refused to answer him.
